I have found that the brown rice alternative takes 24 minutes. There are also some tell tale markers that you can observe so you know when the rice is ready.
Step 1 – Boil water and measure out the brown basmati rice
You will want to make sure that the water is simmering away before you add the rice.
Step 2 – Add the rice
You will notice that the rice is being thrown around the saucepan as whole kernels. There is very little in the way of bubbles resting on the top of the water.
Step 3 – Boiled rice after 15 minutes
You will notice that there are lot more bubbles that are resting on the top of the water. The kernels are opening up and the starch is being released.
Step 4 – Your rice has been cooked
You will notice that after 24 minutes the saucepan has a lot of bubbles on the water surface. I have found that this is the optimum time and look for perfect brown basmati rice. Step 5 – Serve
